I am thrilled to be teaching at PNS, a school and community that I love.  Families that have been at Providence for a few years may already know me.  My oldest son, Andrew, graduated in 2005 and my daughter, Sarah, just finished in 2007.  PNS thrives on involved parents.  Being no exception, I served in a variety of positions, including two years as President. But I must confess, the best part of my time at PNS was substituting for teachers and aides.  I loved being in a classroom again, getting down on the floor, playing and interacting with the kids.  

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Boston University.  I spent three years teaching students with multiple handicaps in Lawrence, Massachusetts followed by another three years teaching in an early childhood program in Rockville, Maryland.  It was here that I refined my educational philosophy.

I believe that young children learn best in a safe, warm, nurturing environment with consistent routines, and playful, positive interactions with other children and adults.  I believe the inevitable struggles and tantrums toddlers go through are teachable moments, opportunities to teach communication, problem solving, and sharing.  Two and three-year olds learn best through active involvement with their environment.  I incorporate song, movement, and multi-sensory activities throughout the day. My main goal is to teach my students to love school.
