Three Year Old Class Teacher
I became acquainted with Providence Nursery School when I enrolled my daughter in the fall of 1996 in the Two's class. We were both delighted with the school and all of our new friends. Two years later an aide position became available in the Three's class, and I was offered the position. I enjoyed working with that class so much that when the teacher moved away, I asked if I could take her place. I have been teaching the Three's class ever since, and loving it.
Although my college degree is in statistics, I have attended numerous workshops, seminars and classes in a variety of related subject areas. These classes are also a great way to meet other teachers and share ideas.
I love nature, outdoor activities, gardening and experimenting, so I have especially enjoyed my project this year of revitalizing our science center. I have pulled together science-type resources from all over the school and added plenty from outside sources. Now, I am excited when I see children wander over to the science table and pick up a magnifying glass or try one of the self-directed activities there.
My family is very supportive of my endeavors here at Providence. When I mention an upcoming special project, my husband wants to know if he gets to pre-construct anything for it and he has built some of our art and gross motor equipment. The daughter I mentioned above still loves to come to school with me when she gets a chance. I have another daughter who is interested in being an aide for our summer program. Providence is a great place to be and I consider myself lucky to be a part of it.
